Claire Kane - Principal
Claire began dancing at the age of 9 and from her very first lesson she knew she wanted to become a dance teacher. She studied locally in ballet, tap, stage, modern, freestyle, latin American, old time ballroom and modern ballroom collecting many accolades and competing in many festivals along the way. Claire was 7 times UKA scholarship winner and the first person to win the title in ballet, tap and modern in the same year.
She also achieved Runner Up in the Stage Dance Council International Scholarships after representing the UKA. She also represented England in a Team competition in Russia where they came 1st. Claire went on to gain her teaching qualifications and has experience teaching in many schools as well as Stagecoach Theatre Arts.
In 2005 Claire opened Sugar Kane’s School of Dance and now teaches full time. The school focuses on hard work and good technique and believes that all students should be treated equally regardless of their talent. Claire is currently a Member of the UKA and BATD examining boards and is a qualified Adjudicator.
Shelley O'Horan - Hip Hop & Competition Work
Shelley has danced from the age of 4yrs old in her home town of Doncaster. From a very young age dance competitions and performing was her life, and worked professionally on stage and television from the age of 9yrs. As well as touring the country in Musicals, Pantomimes and Operas she studied hard to achieve advanced level in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Acting and Singing exams.
In 2002, whilst studying for her A Levels, Shelley won the title of Miss Dance of Great Britain with the IDTA. This was something she had trained for all her dancing life. After completing her A levels she worked as a dancer on Carnival Cruise Lines for a couple of years. Having recently gone back to her dancing roots, Shelley passed her Associate Ballet, Modern and Freestyle exams and is now working full time as a Freelance Choreographer/tutor for various companies and schools.
Shelley also hosts several Zumba Fitness Classes per week which definitely keeps her fit and health. Shelley is working towards more teaching exams and hopes to continue working at SugarKanes.
Saffron Broad - ABATD
Saffron has been dancing since the age of 3. She has trained with Sugar Kane’s since the age of 9. Saffron competed for many years and during that time won many Championships and commendations at Scholarships. She has performed with Regional and National Youth Ballet companies and was accepted to train with Louise Browne Ballet Scholars in York as a teenager.
Ashleigh Clegg - ABATD
Ashleigh is also a fully qualified personal trainer. She has danced since the age of 3 and has competed and appeared in many shows as well as TV credits. She was part of a professional hip hop touring company at the age of 16 and has won many bursary’s and championships with her talent in hip hop.
Stef Gledhill - Hip Hop, Cheer Leading & Zumba
Stef Gledhill has been involved within the world of dance since the age of three. She trained at a local dance school and competed regularly, going on to study contemporary dance at Wakefield college and gaining a BTEC National in performing arts. In 2006 Stef was successful in auditioning for the Wakefield Wildcats Cheer Leading Squad, where she gained valuable performance skills.
Stef now holds Associate qualifications with the BATD and is also a qualified Zumba instructor. She is currently studying for more Associate qualifications and teaches Hip Hop, Cheer Leading and Zumba at Sugar Kane’s. Stef says that Dance has always and will always be a big part of her life, she loves it!!
